Andrew V. Kudin

Philosopher · Author · Educator

My work examines political power, philosophical traditions, methods of thought, and the choices through which ideas take shape in our lives. Across scholarship, teaching, and literature, I return to one question: how does thought change the way we understand the world and our place within it?

Areas of Work

Philosophical inquiry across traditions and problems

These areas form the core of my academic work, bringing together my books, research, and teaching.

02

Political Philosophy

I examine the nature of political power, the structure of the state, forms of government, political regimes, and the relationship between authority and freedom. My work asks how political ideas shape institutions, public life, and the choices societies make.

Teaching & Public Philosophy

I teach philosophy as a living practice of thought: a way to question assumptions, clarify ideas, and understand the forces at work in human life. My books, courses, and lectures make difficult philosophical questions accessible without diminishing their depth.

About

A life in philosophy, teaching, and books

As a philosopher, author, and educator, I work across political philosophy, the history of philosophy, and the great philosophical traditions that have taken shape across cultures.

In scholarship and literature alike, I return to one conviction: philosophy is a disciplined way of seeing clearly, testing assumptions, and tracing the forces that shape human decisions and societies.

Selected Works

Books at the center of my work

A selection of books exploring political philosophy, the history of philosophy, philosophical traditions across cultures, and the methods of philosophical inquiry.

Teaching & Lectures

Philosophy belongs in the living exchange of ideas

Teaching has been central to my work for decades. In the classroom, philosophical ideas face a different test: they must be clear enough to invite questions, strong enough to withstand challenge, and precise enough to deepen the way we think.

Fiction

Ideas under pressure

In fiction, abstract questions become human. Ideas are tested through character and conflict, and every choice carries a consequence.

Novel

The Black Suit

Set in late-Soviet Kiev, The Black Suit follows power inward, into the psychology of a man who learns to control the criminal world around him. The deeper he moves into that struggle, the harder it becomes to tell whether he possesses power or power possesses him.

Books
Novel

A Game of Blind

A Game of Blind follows loneliness inward, into the life of a man the world has almost erased. What remains is tested not by victory, but by the one bond that still gives his life meaning—and by how much of himself he is willing to give for it.

Beyond the page

Books and classrooms are only part of the conversation. Public events carry ideas into a different space, where they are tested and changed through exchange with others.
