Events & Media

Beyond the Page

Public events place ideas in a different setting from the page or classroom, where they are tested through direct exchange with an audience. This page brings together those occasions and the media that grow out of them.

Indian Philosophy: Schools, Ideas, and Ways of Life

It was a genuine pleasure to speak with students at Orange Coast College on September 30, 2026, during my guest lecture, “Indian Philosophy: Schools, Ideas, and Ways of Life.”
I am deeply grateful to Philip Simpkin, Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Orange Coast College, for organizing the event with such care and generosity. His invitation and warm welcome made the occasion especially meaningful.
I would also like to thank all the students who attended. Their attention and thoughtful questions turned the lecture into a real conversation. I was especially pleased by the seriousness of their interest and by the way the discussion continued beyond the material I had prepared.
Encounters like this are among the most rewarding parts of teaching. What stays with me most is a sense of gratitude for the welcome I received and for the chance to share ideas with students who were genuinely curious and fully engaged.

216th Anniversary of the Independence of Mexico

It was a pleasure to join the Consulate of Mexico in Santa Ana at the Bowers Museum on September 11, 2026, for the 216th anniversary of Mexican Independence. The evening brought together community leaders, friends, and families in a warm celebration of Mexican history and culture. Traditional music, dance, and the generosity of the people I met made it especially memorable. I am grateful for the invitation and for the chance to share in a gathering that reflected both pride in Mexico's heritage and the strong bonds within the local community.
